Sondra Wilson Rebukes Trump’s Response to Renee Good Homicide, Citing Clear Violations of DOJ Deadly-Force Policy
January 8, 2026
Excerpt from an 8-page policy statement released by Iowa gubernatorial candidate Sondra Wilson:
“When federal deadly-force policy was clearly violated and officers created this situation, Renee Good — a woman with a constitutional right to protest and to be free from unjustified force — was killed. And when the President’s first instinct was to blame her instead of the policy that failed her, that is not law and order — it is moral cowardice.
I absolutely support America’s law enforcement. That also means holding officers to clear, enforceable standards and having the integrity to admit responsibility when those standards are violated. Officers exist to protect and serve the American people. Clear rules, honest accountability, and trauma-informed training make their jobs safer and more effective, and it builds public trust — which is desperately needed right now.
I offer my sincere condolences to Renee Good’s loved ones.”
— Sondra Wilson, Independent Candidate for Iowa Governor
