Crop Diversity and Enrichment Act — Provides grant funding to further develop research performed at Wake Forest University regarding using pokeweed berries for the purpose of making solar panels. Additionally, the State of Iowa will attempt to partner with Wisconsin Battery Company to assist in research improving upon hemp batteries, which have been found to be more efficient than lithium. Through subsidies, education programs, and other practical measures, the State of Iowa will assist farmers in getting in on early crop booms. Rural Iowa Revitalization Act —Allocates funding for to hire Civilian Restorations Corps’ Barn Rebuilders teams to help clean up and rebuild old farm buildings throughout rural Iowa. Solar Installers and FarmHire teams will bring solar-powered energy and provide help around the farm to rural Iowans. Also contains a provision guaranteeing farmers the “right to repair” their equipment. In other words, manufacturers won’t be allowed to lock farmers out from fixing their own equipment. READ MORE.
