The amount of harassment I have endured this lifetime is far more than any human should ever have to bear. The fact that here in Iowa, our own Governor has incited harassment against a small minority of people, and that Republican lawmakers — who have acted as bullies and tyrants against Iowa’s transgender and nonbinary population — has left me with no other choice but to stand up for the dignity and respect of these groups of people to the best of my ability.
I hereby demand public apologies from Donald Trump, Kim Reynolds, Randy Feenstra, and any and all public officials who have slandered and thereby incited harassment against transgender Iowans. Erasure of legal protections for transgender and nonbinary persons from the Iowa Civil Rights Act has been part of a concerted conspiracy by members of the Republican Party of Iowa and Republican National Committee for many years now. That is why, on March 31, 2025, I filed criminal charges and a class action lawsuit against the aforementioned parties, as well as numerous others. You can follow that case here.
Protect LGBT+ Iowans from Harassment – Including political attacks and repeated and/or intentional misgendering. Does not protect against misgendering persons who are present in traditional attire of their assigned sex at birth (e.g. a person who is born as a male and dresses in clothing traditionally worn by men, but insists on being called “she”).
Ensure access to Gender Affirming Care for Adults – The Medicaid and Medicare Act secures the right to medically-necessary procedures and the right to be free from discrimination. The 9th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees these rights. Due to the fact that many insurance companies wrongly consider gender affirming care cosmetic as opposed to necessary, kicking transgender people off Medicaid can leave them desperate and in severe physical and emotional pain.
