Helping Small Businesses:

My platform is designed to lift Iowa’s small businesses up in multiple ways.

Page in making. please check back shortly.

Places a tax on multi-millionaires and billionaires in order to subsidize and raise minimum wage, with larger subsidies going toward Iowa’s caregivers for the disabled and elderly. Also helps helps kickstart Civilian Restoration Corps. When CEOs earn $20 M+ per year, it is okay to talk about taxing them at a higher rate. This will raise the quality of life for all Iowans – the wealthy and the poor – because “a rising tide lifts all ships”. John Locke, the most quoted political author by the Founding Fathers, described the ideal government as a “commonwealth”, for which The Commonwealth Act is named. It’s not socialist — it’s egalitarian and it’s agape.

Subsidize and raise minimum wage – Increased subsidies for caregivers for the disabled and elderly. Economists agree that subsidizing the minimum wage is smarter than raising the minimum wage, as raising it causes prices to rise and lowers the purchasing power of the disabled and the elderly who depend on social security. Also, raising the wage without subsidizing hurts small businesses more than large corporations, who can more easily absorb the costs. Paid for through the Iowa Commonwealth Act.

Premium Healthcare Packages for Small Businesses —Small businesses in Iowa can’t compete with corporations who can afford to provide health insurance to their employees. As Governor, I will call together private insurance companies who are headquartered in Iowa so we can form a plan around helping Iowa’s small businesses. The end goal will be to create an affordable package that only Iowa’s small businesses will have the opportunity to buy, which will in turn allow them to offer premium healthcare services to their employees. This “cooperative” will aim to offer enticing contracts for providers to get them to join our network, and the package will cover surgeries not traditionally covered by insurance, such as some cosmetics. When Iowa’s insurance companies were founded, cosmetics were not as affordable, but today Iowa has an amazing medical infrastructure. My plan will unite providers and insurance companies to create a premium package that will give Iowa’s small businesses an edge that will help them retain employees. Happy employees = happy workplace... READ MORE.

The CRC Voucher Program – Each of the CRC teams may make purchases for necessary, CRC-approved supplies from local Iowa businesses, whom the state shall work with to ensure supplies are available for them to carry. Only high quality, efficient, and state-of-the-art products will be approved for use by CRC. If a business or CRC team member finds a superior product, they may alert CRC, who will then approve that product and remove the previous product from the list. Then, whenever that product is purchased through the CRC Voucher program, the person (or business) who recommended the product will receive a commission. This program ensures CRC Teams are supporting Iowa businesses, and incentivizes, participation in constantly helping to improve CRC. Vouchers may also be used for meals to support local businesses… READ MORE.

Team #3: “Solar Installers” – Teams will install solar power, cool roofs, thermal curtains, and other low-cost, energy saving measures to homes and rental properties in order to reduce energy bills for homeowners and renters. C.R.C. will prioritize installing solar on apartment complexes to reduce energy bills for all Iowans. The Solar Installers leg of the CRC program goes hand-in-hand with the Crop Diversity and Enrichment Act, which will greatly benefit Iowa’s farmers.. READ MORE.

Eminent Domain Rental Properties Owned by Out-of-State Landlords You know how eminent domain is always used in the worst ways — like taking land from farmers to put in pipelines? What if we flipped the script and used it in a way that actually benefits the public? Out-of-state landlords own rental properties all over Iowa, vacuuming up millions of dollars as Iowans go broke. With rents rising and Iowa’s homelessness problem is at a record high, Iowa’s renters need big relief now. Taking rental properties from out-of-state landlords will keep millions of dollars in Iowa, which will help businesses profit in a manner that provides Iowa’s tenant class with desperately-needed relief. Apartment units and buildings will be fixed up and brought up to code by CRC’s Apartment Improvers, outfitted with solar power to reduce energy bills via Solar Installers, and food and herbal medicine gardens will be planted nearby thanks to Gardens Across Iowa! Sustainable Villages to Help the Homeless – At some point, as a society, we need to face it: not everyone fits perfectly into the business community. Many simply don’t have the wherewithal to hold a steady job and make ends meet. It becomes exhausting for Iowa’s homeless population and nonprofits trying to keep up with Iowa’s growing homeless population. Modeled in part after Joppa’s proposed village, sustainable village will use cob housing, papercrete using recycled paper, and be outfitted by Solar Installers, with Master Gardeners helping to tend food and herbal medicine gardens… READ MORE.
