Ames, IA Rentals Owner Directory

      This purpose of this page is to help determine:

1.) who owns large rental units in Ames, Iowa;
2.) how much they earn from them;
3.) how the money is being used, especially for the purpose of affecting elections;
4.) how much money is being extracted from Ames by absentee landlords.

        The below directory can be used to create a similar directory in your area.  To create the directory, we used the following process:

1.)  We looked up the address of the rental property at the county assessor’s office (they directed us to the property search section of the county website).
2.)  If we found that the DEED OWNER was a business, we looked up the business within the Secretary of State’s business entities search engine in order to fin
d the “Registered Agent or Reserving Party” for that business (“registrants”), as well as their address.
3.) We performed research to find any additional information we could find about the addresses of registrants (sometimes more than one business is listed under the same address), as well as the registrants themselves (including other businesses they own, whether they donate to political campaigns, articles, etc.).  

     Our findings are listed in the directory below.  Addresses and registrants are linked to the aforementioned database entries.
