While homeless between August 7, 2002 and still today (I live with my friend now, but would be living in my vehicle if not), I faced many, many injustices and hardship over the years, including discrimination, harassment, and false arrests from law enforcement in multiple states including Iowa, where I am from. As a homeless transgender woman, finding legal assistance or media attention has always proven impossible. It appears to me that many media outlets and attorneys are afraid to sue a business or the government on behalf of a transgender woman due to the support they might lose within the business community. Even when a business or officer violates the law, I have found that County Attorneys – who are elected officials – do not want to risk their next election via filing charges on behalf of a homeless trans woman. Therefore, I for many years I have compiled the following resources and made them publicly available for fellow Citizens to learn from. As I continue to learn (and as time allows), I continue to update these resources. One day – when I have funding – I intend to hire people to help bring these resources to the next level, and keep them available to the public within my will, through the foundation I will set up. If I pass away or am killed before having this arranged, I hope that loved ones will come together and help to make this happen. I have passed my website passwords unto my niece in case this happens. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in helping to set up this foundation (I will scrutinize you and your integrity in order to safeguard the organization, so please expect it), and you are also welcome to donate. Without further adieu – here are the resources which I hope you find helpful:
thousands of legal term definitionsorganized by category – The site uses Ballantine’s and Black’s Law Dictionaries, which are recommenced on the US Court of Federal Claims’ website – so you know the definitions found throughout the site are credible. Compare the simplicity this website to opening up any law dictionary – you’ll find the website much more user-friendly.
